International Women’s Day – A Time to Spread the Word

March 8 is International Women’s Day and this year, as we see a strong focus on harassment and inequality, it takes on a special meaning.  While it was originally intended as a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world, it really talks to many who have become a part of the #MeToo movement, not out of choice, but out of personal history.

Women have fought for years for recognition of their contributions in the business world, and we can proudly say that we have made major strides in the past few decades.  As a woman-owned business, Oster and Associates acknowledges the contributions every day of the fine team we have.  Some are women, and some are men.  Their gender is unimportant when it comes to achievement.  It’s the brilliance they exhibit in their roles toward creating success for our clients that is what we need to recognize. International Women’s Day is not about men against women, but about creating parity between the sexes in the workplace.

We also proudly acknowledge the strong women who are our clients.  Hats off to entrepreneurs such as Mayra Velazquez de Leon, CEO of Organics Unlimited, and Karen McPartland, President of TSAC Engineering.  Congratulations to those women in science, leaders in horticulture, outstanding retailers and leaders of industries who have broken the barriers.  It’s been a difficult journey for many, but there has been great progress in providing opportunities for everyone.

International Women’s Day is a big day for inspiration and change. It’s a day to acknowledge the progress and reinvigorate for the challenges ahead.  It’s a time to motivate those around us to do their best and provide an example and a clearer roadmap for future generations.

The organizers of International Women’s Day have created an influencing campaign for everyone to share.  By using #PressforProgress, you can be a part of the conversation surrounding the achievements of women everywhere.  As marketers, we embrace the use of social media to spread the word, inspire large segments of the population and motivate them toward creating better work places and thus a better world.  Be a part of the bright future for both women and men as we more fully appreciate and use the talents of everyone, regardless of gender, race or beliefs.
